Tahoe Tessie is a mythical creature that is said to live in Lake Tahoe, North America's largest alpine lake.  The creature is described as a large, serpent-like creature that lives in the deepest parts of the lake. The creature is known as anything from a black serpent-like creature to a friendly green reptile. The shamans of the Washoe and Paiute Indians considered Tahoe Tessie to be a being of reverence and immensely powerful.
